Information from Pierce County Sheriff’s Department: On Monday December 21st, 2009, Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputy Kent Mundell was shot by a suspect while responding to a domestic violence incident at a residence in Eatonville. Deputy Kent Mundell passed away on Monday December 28th, 2009, after a week in critical condition at Harborview Hospital in Seattle.
Deputy Walter ‘Kent’ Mundell was hired with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department on January 10th, 2000. Kent is married and has two children, ages 10 and 16 years old. Kent has worked as a patrol deputy in South Hill and currently the Mountain detachment. Over the course of his career with the Sheriff’s Department, Kent has served as a member of the Air Operations, Clandestine Lab Team, and as a Safety Committee Representative.
