CrimeZilla.com Commentary: Director Roman Polanski taken into Swiss Custody on a 1978 US Arrest Warrant after 31 years “on the run” is a Mockery of the American Justice System

Justice ScalesCrimeZilla.com Commentary:

Director Roman Polanski taken into Swiss custody on a 1978 US arrest warrant after 31 years “on the run” is a mockery of the American justice system.

In 1977, world-famous movie director, Roman Polanski pleaded guilty to having sex with a 13 year old girl.

Soon after, Polanski fled to France, where he is a citizen.

In 1978, United States authorities issued an arrest warrant for Polanski.

There is an old saying:  Justice Delayed Is Justice Denied.

We believe that maxim fits the Polanski case perfectly.

According to media reports, Roman Polanski has maintained a successful and high profile life in France, after fleeing from his 1977 United States guilty plea.

In fact, Roman Polanski even won the 2003 Academy Award’s Oscar for Best Director of the movie, “The Pianist.”

We think, after 31 years “on the run” from facing the consequences of his United States guilty plea, film director Roman Polanski should be promptly returned to American territory.

According to media reports, Polanski believes his 1977 guilty plea should be overturned due to alleged judicial misconduct.

When Roman Polanski is, hopefully, soon returned to the United States, he can present in person his side of the case to an American court of law and offer any legal arguments that he has to potentially overturn his 1977 guilty plea.

After 31 years in “exile” in France, we think that it is time that Roman Polanski faces the American justice system on American territory and “pay the price,” if any, of his alleged criminal actions.
